Another fantastic book from JLA! The Lux series is one of my favorites, so I was so excited to hear she was writing an adult book from the Arum side of things. And oh, man was this good!! Holy freaking hotness!! Hunter is the bad boy to the core, but he's still oh, so good!! And of course Serena has an awesome amount of snark that we know the author writes so well!! This was all sorts of awesome. It had my adrenaline pumping, laughing out loud, fanning myself, and swooning hard! The best part? Dual POV's!!I will start with Serena. She is snark times twenty. She doesn't take crap from anyone, and the more you tell her to do something, the more she will fight it. Piss her off, she will throw things at you. Really though, she has just been taken away from her life and is now being protected by an alien. He infuriates her, and gets her all hot and bothered. She is very impulsive, doesn't listen well, and is stubborn as hell, but I totally loved her. She is also fierce and totally loyal to doing the right thing, even if it means putting herself at risk to do it.Hunter is fan-freaking-tastic. Oh, my yum!!! Okay, so he's an ass, really he is, but he is a sexy, hot ass who is every bit as alluring as he is aggravating. He is seriously sex on a stick. He knows what he wants and he goes for it. Okay, so besides his deliciousness, he is badass. When things get complicated, he will go against everything to protect Serena. He finds that he is starting to care for her and when she is at risk he goes into super scary Arum mode!! He is a bit off putting at first, but since we get his POV too, we learn that he's not as much of a jerk as he comes off as... most of the time.Besides the sexiness of this book, my favorite thing was the familiar characters from the Lux series. We don't get a whole lot of them, but it was nice how it ties in. Also there are little bits that give some insight into where the Lux series is possibly headed. It makes me super nervous and really excited at the same time. We learn a little more about the government and how they tie into things, and more about the history of the Luxen and Arums from the Arum side of things. Through the Lux series the Arum have always seemed liked the bad guys, but I think I may be having a change of heart. Not to say I don't like the Luxen, but things are definitely not good/bad for me anymore. I think it's all about the individuals.This was super awesome. It was such a fun and sexy book. You don't need to have read the Lux series to enjoy this as it's just set in the same world, and adult. If you like books that bring on the steam, the laughs, the frustration, and adventure, this is definitely one to read! This was everything I was expecting and more. I want more of the adult part of this world!!
