Sweet Peril

Sweet Peril - Wendy Higgins I am glad to say that this is another angel book series that I am totally loving!! I can now say that I am a Kaidan fan girl. I wasn't totally sold on him in the first book, but oh man, he stole my heart completely in this one!! The danger is lurking around every corner in this. It's full of adventure, action, and oh the emotions!!! All the feels guys!! I felt like I was inside a pinball machine of emotions reading this!! This is going to be a hard review to write because I really just want to fan girl all over the place, but I will try to keep it to a minimum.Anna is a lot different now then she was before. She has to be whether she likes it or not. She's still the good, sensitive, emotional Anna inside, but it's far too dangerous to let any of that be seen on the outside. She's also very hurt and broken in this one. We know that she is totally in love with Kaidan. She aches to talk to him, to see him, to just know that he's okay. She's working so she has the partying to get her mind off of things for a little while, but she hates doing it, and the guilt eats at her. She is also very brave and tough. She literally travels the world to seek out other nephilim that can be allies with the help of Kope. Talk about a few awkward situations there. Even when she is sure that Kai wants nothing to do with her, she still holds onto that hope and I love it. She knows that it's a huge risk, but she also knows that any time spent with him at all is worth all of the risk.Kaidan you have done it!! You have captured my heart! I still didn't like him in the beginning of this one. I know that he has his reasons for being the way he is, but I still didn't think he had to be quite so much of a jerk face as he was. I wanted to smack him and tell him to stop being such an insensitive prick. As the story went on we see the real Kai start to come out and when he finally lets his protective barrier crash and we see him, the real him and all of his vulnerability, I sobbed. I really did. He is filled with so much love for Anna, but he is so scared of the dangers of it. Not for himself, but for her. He doesn't want to risk her and it's one of the sweetest things ever. This book was so great. From the first page I loved it. There are some secrets that are revealed, that change some things. There are a few scenes that had me gripping the book in anticipation and dread. We meet some new and awesome characters, and also still have the characters we know from the previous book. I love the characters and was able to connect so easy to them and the story. I felt like I was taking this journey with Anna. I wanted to laugh with her, cry with her, be angry with her. And most of the time I did. It wasn't intensely emotional, but all of my feelings came pouring out at one time or another. I love where this book went, I loved the character development, and I am dying for more. After turning the last page, I almost felt empty, like I lost some of my friends. I wanted more, needed more, and will be slowly going insane waiting for the next book.
