Unravel Me

Unravel Me - I love Tahereh Mafi's writing style. I just have to start with that, because it seems so unique and odd, that it could easily have put me off, but I really just love it. It makes me feel like I am really in Juliette's head. I love that she is unsure, and rambles, and second guesses. The writing style really brings that out and I think it really adds to the overall awesomeness of the story!! This book gets more intense as a war is looming between the resistance and the Reestablishment. I enjoyed every single moment of it!!Juliette is still a character that is very unsure, very afraid, and honestly still feeling sorry for herself and not thinking about the bigger picture. I like her, I really do, but sometimes I just wanted to smack her and shake her and tell her to stop being such a baby about things. She does grow a lot in this book, but it took a lot of pushes and mistakes to get her there. I am glad that she finally comes to her senses and becomes the person that they need her to be. She has a phenomenal power, but she is so scared of it and herself that it takes a lot to get her to start to know how to use and control it. But when she does, you can really see the change in her.Now I will get into the love triangle of this. You are being warned, there will be ranting!! Okay, so I will start with Adam. He is sweet and caring and obviously loves Juliette. The only problem is, that things are not quite that simple between them. Now that she knows more about her powers, she is still afraid to hurt him, but he is insistent that they can make things work. Sounds sweet right? Well, it's not. It's nauseating. He pretty much stares at her with puppy eyes, begs, pleads, whines and cries. Oh yes, he is like a heartbroken teenage girl begging to be taken back and it's pretty pathetic. I still do like Adam and I understand he's hurt, but dude needs to not be so sensitive like it's the biggest tragedy in the world. Then we have Warner. I really feel bad for his life situation, and for some reason Juliette actually makes him seem kind of human. He actually does care for her, but that doesn't change that he still doesn't care about anyone else and he is still a psychotic murderer. I don't believe he will change and he pretty much makes it clear that he won't. I do believe that he might love Juliette, but beyond that, he wants her for the power she has, for the power he thinks she can bring him. He still wants to be in control and has no remorse whatsoever about killing innocent people. He is selfish and brutal and I don't believe anything, even Juliette can change that. Is there more to him than meets the eye? Definitely! Do I think that really matters? Not at all.I loved where this one went and I really liked how much Juliette was able to change and grow in this. She is a much stronger person than in Shatter Me and she is determined to do what she needs to do. I loved that she finally breaks out of her shell. We get to know what goes on in Omega Point, we see the battles, and we learn some secrets! This had more action, more suspense, and some pretty great sexy times!! I read a lot of adult books, so the famous chapter 62 didn't have the blushing affect on me, but, it was pretty hot! ;) The overall story progression was awesome, and the way this one ended has me needing the next one now!!
