Insomnia is something I have suffered with for a very long time so I was super interested in this book. It sounded creepy and awesome! This is not really your typical insomnia case though, in fact, I'm not quite sure what it really is. I wanted to love this book, I really did, but it was not great for me at all. Unlikable characters, unbelievable storyline, and the evil sentence too many times!! Mostly, even though it's supposed to be creepy I think, I was just bored and was waiting for something to really happen. Oh, and the mystery was totally obvious! So at first we learn that Parker hasn't slept in four years. That's not quite true. I mean, he sleeps, he just enters the dreams of the last person he made eye contact with instead of his own. It's not a restful sleep since his brain never gets rest, but whatever. He is also a little crazy. I suppose when you are dying from not sleeping it can make you become psycho, but he becomes super stalker, weirdo, crazy dude!! He even turns his friends against him. He is not likeable at all and I didn't feel bad for him. He just wants relief from the dreams and only Mia's dreams can do that. He doesn't know if he is the one stalking her or not and he doesn't know how to fight off his evil side or if it's even real.So really I can't go into too much because everything is pretty easy to figure out, but Parker is able to somehow see people's dreams and it is keeping him from real sleep. Without sleep, you die. I really thought the whole concept of it was cool, but it just all got to be boring, predictable, and a lot of stuff just went a bit overboard with believability. It started to feel more like a paranormal and I don't know if that was intended, but it was not what I expected. I know the synopsis obviously hints at some paranormal, but this was just different than I thought. Besides seeing other people's dreams, there was just some other really odd stuff going on.In general, I just didn't like it. It's not that it was a bad book in any way, it just wasn't great for me. I didn't like the characters, I thought the outcome was too predictable, and some of the things that happened in the story were just a bit too far fetched. It's really hard for me to like a book if I don't like the MC at all and don't really care how the situation ends for them. The story was interesting, but not enough to hold my attention. I wish this had worked for me, but it didn't. I wanted a psychological book that messed with my head, and this didn't hit the mark. It may very well do that for others, but it didn't for me.* An advanced copy was provided by the publisher for an honest review. I did not receive any compensation.
